Kolmården Dolphinarium – Sweden

“Our dolphins deserve the cleanest water possible — and Weda’s robot delivers exactly that.”
— Animal Care Lead, Kolmården Wildlife Park

Kolmården is Scandinavia’s largest wildlife park and operates a large saltwater dolphinarium. The dolphin tank hosts daily public shows and must meet the highest standards for water quality and animal health. Due to constant feeding, movement, and biological activity, the tank experiences sediment and algae buildup, especially in hard-to-reach corners and seams. Manual cleaning poses stress risks to marine mammals. Robotic cleaning systems were deployed to perform gentle, non-intrusive maintenance that ensures clear water, optimal visibility, and compliance with animal welfare regulations.

The Challenge

Manual cleaning of the dolphinarium tank was inefficient and disruptive to animal routines. The goal was to find a gentle, quiet robot that could clean frequently with minimal disturbance.

The Weda Solution

Weda’s compact W50 robot was selected for its ability to operate silently and navigate shallow curves. It was easily managed by the maintenance staff and operated outside of show hours.
