Mekorot – Israel

“We’ve streamlined maintenance across our nationwide network with Weda’s robotic cleaning systems.”
— Water Systems Engineer, Mekorot

Mekorot is Israel’s national water company, operating hundreds of reservoirs, pipelines, and treatment facilities across diverse terrains. In arid and semi-arid regions, every drop counts — and sediment accumulation can significantly impact water availability. Mekorot often contends with desert dust, algae blooms, and seasonal flooding, which can clog inlets and reduce storage capacity. Robotic cleaning systems allow Mekorot to perform non-intrusive, efficient sediment removal without draining precious water. This supports national resilience, agricultural irrigation, and reliable supply in one of the world’s most water-scarce countries.

The Challenge

Sedimentation in drinking water reservoirs of varying sizes required different cleaning approaches. Draining tanks wasn’t viable, especially during peak summer demand.

The Weda Solution

Mekorot deployed both the VR-600 and YT-800 to cover its full reservoir spectrum. With robotic cleaning systems sized for each use case, they reduced cleaning time, costs, and water usage.
