Veolia – Ivory Coast

“Thanks to Weda, we’ve eliminated the need for dangerous confined-space entry and significantly improved water safety compliance.”
— Head of Water Operations, Veolia Ivory Coast

Veolia Ivory Coast oversees the maintenance of multiple drinking water reservoirs across the region. These reservoirs are critical to public health and require constant upkeep to ensure water quality and safe delivery. As part of a broader global initiative to modernize water infrastructure, this regional branch plays a critical role in managing sedimentation and algae buildup in tropical climates, where waterborne diseases and seasonal fluctuations can impact public safety. Their work supports uninterrupted supply of potable water across urban and rural districts, contributing to improved sanitation and health outcomes for millions of people.

The Challenge

Reservoirs were prone to sedimentation and algae build-up due to open exposure and seasonal rainfall. Cleaning required full drainage, leading to service disruption, and posed serious risks to maintenance crews due to man-entry in confined tanks.

The Weda Solution

Weda Robotics provided a VR-600 unit — a remotely operated submersible robot designed for sediment removal in active tanks. The team from Veolia attended a 2-week training session in Sweden to develop in-house capability for operation and maintenance.
