Volkswagen Plant – Germany

“With the B600, we can now keep water channels clean and operational — without halting production.”
— Maintenance Lead, Volkswagen Germany

Volkswagen’s German manufacturing plants use internal cooling and processing water systems across multiple production halls. Over time, internal channels and sumps accumulate machining debris, paint particles, and metal dust that reduce flow and threaten equipment performance. These systems are often narrow, enclosed, and difficult to access. Volkswagen adopted robotic cleaning systems to maintain channel cleanliness without halting production. The submerged robots operate autonomously or by remote control and have reduced the need for periodic shutdowns, increasing overall factory uptime.

The Challenge

The facility needed to remove sediment buildup under the production floor in a tank that couldn’t be easily accessed or drained. Downtime was not an option.

The Weda Solution

Weda’s B600 robot was deployed and custom-fitted with a warning light for surface visibility. Its compact size and maneuverability enabled remote cleaning under low-clearance conditions without any disruption.

No need to halt operations during cleaning
